Samuel A. GoldmanSam is a journalist, writer, and hopeless daydreamer based in Berkeley, Calif. He has been a general-assignment reporter, freelancer, columnist, and opinions editor, and his work has appeared in Noozhawk, The Santa Barbara Independent, Mission Local, and countless iterations of a personal blog he’s yet to find the time to update. Among many other topics, Sam has covered San Francisco police, California’s drought, wildfires, local business, and elections from city council to the Congress. His current reporting interests include science, the environment, education, politics, and the media. He always uses the Oxford comma.
Possibly addicted to the student life, Sam’s currently a Master’s candidate in the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, where he focuses on narrative writing and dabbles, at times precariously, in multimedia journalism. He received his bachelor’s in geography from UC Santa Barbara, where he also studied professional writing. When not reporting or compulsively reading the news, he’s going on spontaneous runs, improving his Spanish, trying to lure the neighborhood cat into the house, or putting a dent in his ever-growing queue of leisure reading. |
